2025 Lt. Governor Turkey Hunt: Photo Gallery Day 1

April 16, 2025

Oklahoma Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell visited Alva on Thursday as part of the 37th Annual Lt. Governor’s Turkey Hunt, a tradition that tours towns and cities across the state.

Alva’s Dinner and Dessert evening was held at the Damon Sherrell barn north of town — enjoy the photos from this exciting three-day event!

We kicked things off Wednesday with a Retail Business and Development Workshop featuring free presentations from Commercial Catalyst, OTC, and City Economics. Community leaders and business owners gathered to learn more about growth opportunities. Later that evening, guests and guides were able to meet and connect.

Thursday was packed with activity — after a morning of hunting, guests enjoyed lunch at the Alva Beer Company. In the afternoon, we traveled to Waynoka for a special tour. Our first stop was the grand opening of The Station at the historic Harvey House, followed by an upstairs museum tour graciously hosted by Charlene Bixler and the Waynoka Historical Society. The group also toured America’s Oasis, a thriving new resort at the sand dunes.

That evening, we gathered for the Lt. Governor’s Turkey Hunt Dinner — and what’s better than turkey? Steak! And some of the best around, too.

The event wrapped up Friday with Eggs and Issues, hosted by the Alva Chamber of Commerce. Legislators provided updates on what’s happening across Oklahoma, followed by remarks from Lt. Governor Pinnell himself. The morning concluded with several economic development tours and meetings showcasing everything Woods County has to offer.
